A Committee was sent to examine the terms of the dietary as it stands, and it was felt to be discouraging to the dietary of the prison. The diet was found to be 24% more expensive than that of other prisons, upon examination carefully watched.
The hypothesis was propounded that the human body is able to sustain itself on a simpler diet. When the bean is used in the depressing centre of the prison, it may be amongst the particular elements that contribute to constitute the experience by which it is to be judged.
